Chapter 1

"Hath chorhiye mera." Hyra was on the edge of crying, as Hayder dragged her inside. Hyra tried to freed her hand from his grip but he was a lot stronger than her.

(Leave my hand.)

"Bohot ho gaya tumhara, itne din se bardasht kar raha hoon..." Hayder's anger didn't decrease, as he dragged her in the lounge room.

(I've had enough of you.)

Rabia and Arzoo, who were in dining room, came there when heard Hayder's angry voice.

"Hayder, yeh kya kar rahe ho? Chorho Hyra ko." Rabia quickly went to them and said.

(Hayder, what are you doing? Leave Hyra.)

"Badi mummy, issey puchiye isne kya kiya hai." Dropping Hyra's hand, Hayder said.

(Badi mummy, ask her what she did.)

Hyra was quick to hide behind Rabia, trying to hide her small frame from Hayder.

"Kya kiya, Hyra, tumne?" Arzoo asked her daughter, bringing her in front.

(What did you do, Hyra?)

"Maama, main... maine kuch nahi kiya. Hayder bhai yun hi gussa ho rahe hain." Fixing her specs, Hyra mumbles.

(Maama, I... I haven't done anything. Hayder bhai is angry without any reason.)

"Yun hi? Badi mummy, choti mummy, jake dekhiye meri car, isne kya haal banaya hai uska."

(Without any reason? Badi mummy, choti mummy, you won't believe what she did to mu car.)

"Maine nahi kiya." Tears brimmed in her eyes as Hyra pleaded.

(I didn't.)

"Tumne nahi kiya toh jinn ne kiya hai?"

(A ghost did it then?)

Uswa and Sameer, who were in other room, peeked from the door, seeing Hayder angry and Hyra crying, made both of them scared as they looked at each other.

Yeh kya hogaya?

"Hayder, kya ho gaya? Usne kaha hai usne nahi kiya toh usne nahi kiya hoga." Rabia said, siding with Hyra.

(Hayder, what's wrong with you? If she is saying she didn't do it, then she didn't do it.)

"Badi mummy, isne meri puri car kachra kardi hai." Hayder said in frustration.

(Badi mummy, she trashed my car.)

"Hyra, abhi jao aur Hayder ki car saaf karo." Azroo ordered.

(Hyra, go and clean Hayder's car.)

"Arzoo, kya ho gaya hai? Tum dono toh bachhi ke piche hi parh gaye ho. Hayder, usne kaha usne nahi kiya matlab usne nahi kiya. Yeh zaroor Sami aur Uswa ka kaam hoga. Unhi se kaho car saaf karne ke liye." Rabia was the only one in support of Hyra.

(Arzoo, what's wrong with you? Why you two are scolding her? Hayder, she didn't do it. It is definitely the work of Uswa and Sami. Ask them to clean your car.)

"Sami, Uswa." Rabia called her kids, both Sameer and Uswa ran away, Hayder has scolded Hyra this much on the basis of doubt, if he will catch the real culprits, he is gonna hang them upside down.

"Hyra, jao uski car saaf karo, usko office jana hoga." Arzoo once again told Hyra.

(Hyra, go and clean his car. He has to go to office.)

"Ji, Maama!" Mumbling, Hyra left the lounge, but before going, she gave Hayder a mean glare which he didn't see as he was busy telling Arzoo in what condition he found his car.

(Okay, Maama!)

ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢

"Mujhe ek ghante mein office ke liye nikalna hai, ussey pehle mujhe yeh saaf milni chahiye bilkul pehle jaisi." Hayder and Hyra were standing in front of his car. Hayder was instructing her while Hyra was standing in front of him, head down, hands tied together, listening to him.

(I have to leave for office in an hour and I want my car as clean as new before that.)

"Ji, Hayder Bhai." She softly mumbles.

(Okay, Hayder bhai.)

Hayder left her there and went inside the house, while Hyra looked at the car then the bucket.

She told Uswa and Sameer not to mess with Hayder bhai's car, he loves it more than his life.

ā€”

"Jaldi karo, Sami!" Uswa called her brother, who was bringing the trash can to her.

(Sami, hurry up.)

"Thora tum bhi madad kar sakti ho?" The young boy groaned, why do he have to touch the dirt?

(Can you help me with it?)

"Nahi nahi, maine abhi manicure karwaya hai, meri nail paint kharab ho jayegi." Uswa quickly refused.

(No no, It will ruin my nail paint.)

Angrily, Sameer put the trash can on the floor and glared at Uswa,

"Ghooro mat, chalo kaam pe lago."

(Don't glare at me, do your task.)

Hyra, who came there to call them for breakfast, stopped on her track when saw them putting trash on Hayder's car.

"Tum log kya kar rahe ho?" Hyra almost shouted, making both Uswa and Sameer jumped.

(What are you guys doing?)

"Hyra! Shhh!" Uswa put her finger on her lips and asked Hyra to keep her voice low, while Sameer looked up at the first floor of the house, afraid if Hayder heard her.

"Kya kar rahe ho? Uswa, maar khane ka irada hai kya? Yeh Hayder bhai ki car nahi unki jaan hai." Going to them, Hyra warned them.

(What are you doing? Uswa, Why are you suicidal? This car is Hayder bhai's favourite.)

"Tabhi toh unke karmo ki saza isko mil rahi hai." Uswa said, putting her hands over Hyra's shoulder.

(That's why I am trashing it to take revenge from him.)

"Kaisa karm?" Confusion was written on Hyra's face.

(Revenge for what?)

"Bewaqoof! Tum kaise bhool sakti ho parso Hayder bhai ne hum teeno ki class lagayi thi."

(Idiot! How can you forget about day before yesterday when Hayder bhai scolded us.)

"Haan kyuki Sami ne ball unke coffee ke mug mein maar di thi." Hyra reminds her.

(Because Sami hit the ball on his coffee mug.)

Hayder was holding the cup, and the ball almost hit him too, that's why in anger he threw Sameer's bat away and it got broken.

"Haan toh? Cricket mein toh aisa hota hai, iska yeh matlab nahi woh bat aise torh denge." Sameer defended himself, he also have the fire of revenge just like his sister.

(So? It happens in cricket, but that doesn't mean he has right to break my bat.)

"Hayder bhai tum dono ko chatt se ulta tang denge." Hyra once again warned them.

(Hayder bhai will hang you both upside down on terrace.)

"Kyu tangenge? Unhe kya pata humne kiya? Kawwe na kar diya kachra, woh apni car ko cover karke rakha kare na." Uswa said, arrogantly because her plot didn't have any loophole.

(He won't do such a thing. He won't find out it was us. Maybe a crow tore the trash bag and trashed his car. He should have out cover over his car.)

"Unhone dekh liya toh?" Hyra asked.

(What if he'll see you two?)

"Kaise? Woh toh jogging pe gaye hain, abhi unke aney mein time hai." Uswa informed her.

(How will he? He went out for jogging and will return after some time.)

"Tum dono... pitwaoge. Hayder bhai ko underestimate na karo. Pichli baar se bhi zyada buri class lenge woh."

(You two... will get us in trouble. Don't underestimate him.)

"Pagal! Yaad hai Subash Chandra Bose ne kya kaha tha?"

(Duffer! Don't forget what Subash Chandra Bose said.)

"Tum mujhe khoon do main tumhe azadi dunga?" Sameer guessed.

(Give me blood, I will give you freedom?)

"Yeh school jate ho tum? Woh toh Gandhi Ji me kaha tha."Ā  Uswa narrowed her eyes at Sameer.

(This is what you've learnt in school? Mahatma Gandhi said that.)

"Huh?" Sameer confusingly looked at his sister, who so confidently gave the wrong answer.

"Subash Chandra Bose na kaha tha sarfaroshi ki tammanna ab humare dil mein hai,

Dekhna hai zor kitna bazu-e-qatil mein hai." Uswa almost shook Hyra, as if trying to spark the fire of revenge in her.

(Subash Chandra Bose said The desire of revolution is in our heart

Let us see what strength there is in the arms of our executioner.)

"Yeh Subash Chandra Bose ne nahi kaha tha." Hyra said with a poker face.

(Subash Chandra Bose didn't say that.)

"Achha? Jisne bhi kaha tha."

(Really? Who ever said it.)

"Tum bas, gate cover karo, hum yun yeh kaam nipta lete hain."Ā  Snapping her finger, she gave Hyra a task.

(You just go and cover the gate for us. We will just finish this.)

Unwillingly, Hyra went to the gate to guard them, she didn't want them to get in trouble.

"Uswa, lekin jaldi karna." Hyra requested.

(But do it quickly.)

"Main kya kehta hoon, mere kamre mein aur kachra hai, woh bhi daal dein?" Sameer suggested to Uswa.

(I have more trash in my room, should we throw take them out too?)

"Nice idea. Hyra, hum abhi aye..." Uswa told Hyra, both Sameer and Uswa ran inside.

(Hyra, we will just come.)

"Kya?" Hyra didn't understand any word Uswa said.

(What?)

Fixing her specs, Hyra went to Hayder's car only to find no one there.

"Kaha gaye dono?" She asked herself. But before she could do or realize anything. Hayder came there.

(Where did they go?)

"Yeh sab kya hai?"

(What's this?)

ā€”

Sameer and Uswa slowly approached Hyra, who was just standing there, looking at the car, not knowing from where to start cleaning.

"Hyra!" Uswa called her, slowly.

"Tum? Tum dono..." As if, Hyra's blood rushed to her face and turned it red as Hyra looked at them with anger.

(You? You two...)

Angrily, Hyra looked around, when her eyes fall on the bucket of water. Picking up jug, she threw water at both Uswa and Sameer.

"Arey!" Sameer was quick to hide behind Uswa and the girl got wet.

"Kya kar rahi ho?" Uswa shouted at Hyra.

(What are you doing?)

"Tumhari wajah se Hayder bhai ne mujhe itna data, dekhliya kitna zor hai bazu-e-qatil mein?" Crying, Hyra shouted.

(Because of you Hayder bhai scolded me. Now you saw the strength in the arms of the executioner?)

"I am sorry." Uswa tried to take one step forward,

"Sorry mat kehna." Once again, Hyra threw water at Uswa.

(Don't say sorry.)

Uswa's face got opened in shock, she couldn't believe Hyra once again threw water at her.

"Bas! Bohot hua!" Mumbling, she went to Hyra, picking up the whole bucket, Uswa emptied it on Hyra.

(Enough is enough.)

"Uswa!" Hyra's anger increases, fumbling, she looked around then picked the pipe.

"Arey tum dono..." Sameer was smart, he was already in safe spot, shouting at them from afar.

(What are you two...)

"Hyra! Pani band karo..." Uswa tried to run around the porch, while Hyra was just behind her.

(Hyra! Don't throw water.)

"Hyra! Uswa!" Sameer saw a figure entering from gate, as he shout their name to warn them, but both girls were busy in their cat fighting. And in between them, came Dawar, who has just returned from somewhere, holding a carry bag in his hand.

Uswa took him as her shield, while Hyra unknowingly threw water at him,

When Dawar shout at them, it is when both girls came in senses.

"Kya kar rahi ho tum dono?" Covering his face with his arms, Dawar shouted.

(What are you two doing?)

"Dawar bhai?" Mumbling, Hyra quickly threw the pipe away.

"Uswa!" Dawar called his sister,

Slowly, Uswa came in front of him, both Uswa and Hyra were standing in front of him. Both of them were wet head to toe. Hyra's specs also got dirty as she took them off, fumbling.

"Subah subah kya tamasha laga rakha hai? Puri jalebi kharab kardi." Brushing the water off from his hair, Dawar asked them then looked at the carry bag. Both Rabia and Arzoo were fond of Jalebis, that's why he went out to buy it but both girls ruined it.

(What's this nonsense you two have started in the morning?)

"Dawar bhai, yeh Uswa..." Hyra took a step forward and complained to Dawar about what Sameer and Uswa did.

"Galat baat hai, shararat agar tum dono ne ki thi toh usko accept bhi karna chahiye tha." After hearing everything, Dawar looked at his siblings with disapproval.

(That's very wrong, you two should have the courage to accept your mischief.)

"Lekin, Dawar bhai, Hyra ko toh mummy bacha lengi, humare time pe toh mummy Hayder bhai se kehti aur tagri saza dein." Uswa mumbles.

(But, Dawar bhai, we know mummy will always save Hyra, but if it was us, she would have asked Haydar bhai to give us more punishment.)

"Suna?" Dawar looked at Hyra and asked.

(Did you hear that?)

"Iss liye kehta hoon inn dono ke chakkar mein na parha karo, jao tum change karo warna beemar ho jaogi."

(That's why I tell you to stay away from their plans. You go and change your clothes before you catch cold.)

"Hum bhi jaye?" Sameer and Uswa asked in unison. Masking innocence.

(Can we go too?)

"Ji nahi, tum dono Hayder ki car saaf karoge aur fir porch ko."

(No you can not. You two will clean Hayder's car and porch.)

Sameer and Uswa's face dropped, "But, Dawar bhai..." they wanted to oppose, but one glare from him made them retreat.

"Chalo, Hyra, andar chalte hain." Wrapping his arm around Hyra's shoulder, Dawar said and they went inside.

(Let's go, Hyra.)

"Sami, tum car saaf karo, main..." Uswa wanted to say something but Sameer showed his hand.

(Sami, you clean the car, I will...)

"Tum porch saaf karo, khanardaar jo bhagne ka socha warna Hayder bhai ko sab bata dunga."

(You will clean the porch. Don't you dare to think about running otherwise I will tell Hayder bhai everything.)

"Badtameez." Uswa mumbles.

(Ill-mannered boy.)

ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢

"Jo bhi hua, bas ek malal hai ki Hayder bhai ka chehra nahi dekh payi." Drying her hair with towel, Uswa mumbles as she sat on the bed.

(I have only one regret that I couldn't see Hayder bhai's face.)

"Yeh samajh lo jaise train ki engine se dhuan nikalta hai, waise unke kaan se nikal raha tha." Hyra told her, her hair dried out already as she was now braiding her hair.

"Wow! Kash main bhi dekh pati." Looking up wishfully, Uswa said.

(Wish I was there.)

"Waise mere paas ek idea hai jissey..." Then she started saying but Hyra joined her hands together.

(But I have another idea...)

"Uswa! Please, ab tumhari sarfaroshi ki tammanna nahi dekhni."

(I don't want to see your desire of revolution anymore.)

"Bekar ho tum." Uswa mumbles.

(You are so bad.)

ā€¢ā€¢ā€¢

"Aap kahenge inn dono ko kuch?" Rabia asked her husband- Asim on breakfast table.

(Won't you scold them?)

She has told Asim everything what Uswa and Sameer did and because of them, Hayder scolded Hyra.

"Ahem!" Clearing his throat, Asim leaned towars Uswa, who was sitting beside him.

"Kitni baar bataya hai tum log ko ki shararat aisi karo ki kabhi pakre na jao." He whisperdly asked.

(How many times I have to tell you never get caught in your pranks.)

"Aap!" Rabia heard what he said, "Apko chahiye inhe roke shararat karne se na ki aur shay dein." Rabia scolded him.

(You!)

(You are supposed to stop them from doing mischief, not support them.)

"Bachhe hain, inki inhi shararat se toh ghar mein rounak rehti hai. Warna Akbar aur Ahmed bhai ke baad yeh ghar toh suna hi ho gaya tha."
